The hypocrisy, it burns!
David Broder: Embodiment of Beltway values
The same stars of the Liberal Media who paralyzed the country for two years with their fixation on Bill Clinton's sex scandal -- and who relentlessly insisted that he be forced from office -- have spent the last seven years calmly telling us that there is no reason to get all excited or upset by what the administration has been doing.
If my gaze and thoughts get locked onto the long-term lies of our 'president' for too long, I swear, the hypocrisy makes me wanna scream.
The right-wing zealots I know tend to say things along the line of the White House flacks, accusing the accusers of 'playing the blame game' while they bitch about the gas prices and get mad at me when I say things like "I know! And can you imagine how high they'd be if we hadn't invaded Iraq? Thank god those smart men secured our oil when they did!"
Meanwhile, I'm accused of harboring grudges and being bitter and not being part of the solution. I'm asked to stop criticizing and offer solutions.
Here's the word, chums: You didn't listen to my suggestions in 2001; my solution now is to make you go the fuck away.
UPDATE: I found this diary at NHS Daily Kos. Salient 'graf (for my purposes right now):
But something is different this year. My republican and right-wing
friends are actually trying to engage me in debate on issues. Not sure
why, actually, but I have noticed that they always leave the debate at
one point when they get stumped.
