I saw Bo just one time, in Evanston at Northwestern University around 1983. Northwestern's classes ran longer than anyone else's, into early June. My brother Mike and our friends and I would go there on weekends to visit, hang out on the rocks by the lakeshore, and weasel our way into parties. One night we saw a big crowd and checked it out. There was Bo and his band, hitting a groove, chanting over and over, "If you drink, don't drive/If you drive, don't drink." Killer diller.
I saw him in Madison once. It must have been my freshman year in college. Saying "he was great!" seems like an understatement.
You guys are lucky. My friend Jon called me to share the unfortunate news yesterday, and mentioned in passing that he had seen him too many timed to count.
I saw James Brown and Johnny Cash, but I missed Bo.
