Among other reasons...

...I don't support Hillary Clinton:

Her official campaign song is "You and I" by Celine Dion.

Artistic considerations aside, isn't she from Canada?

Hey, I'm as big a fan of Canadian exports as the next guy, but really...what sort of message is it that your campaign theme song isn't generated by someone from your own country?

Besides, I think there are better songs from our Canadian brothers and sisters to use.

Glad to see you, Terri!

And, yes, I am totally chagrinned that I forgot Leonard Cohen. Revoke my rock-god credentials...

Remember the song Battlescar by Max Webster and Rush? I bought it on a 12" single in 1980. (I wonder what happened to it.) I went Googling because of this post, and found a copy -

The words still don't make any sense, and they weren't no Leonard Cohens, but they're Canadians and one of the lines is "Uncle Sam's time is only a greased wheel."

I'm in D.C. where I've been hanging out with friends building a set of ephemeral sculptures in the shadow of the Capitol at the National Museum of the American Indian. An interesting juxtaposition in the shadow of so much supposed permanence.
