While Tim Lynch is wading through traffic on the way to his New Canaan, Conn., corporate consulting job, he may be the only person on the Merritt Parkway wearing a grin.
That's because he's a kind of radio pirate. And with the iPod, Apple's innovative digital music player, all it takes to hijack the airwaves is a car and a bumper sticker.
Lynch, 31, is one of a handful of iPod owners using the device to transmit FM radio stations from their car. He uses a bumper sticker on the back of his fender that reads "iPod @ 89.1 FM" to let passers-by know how to tune in.
To quote Paul Westerberg, "Are you listening?"

i have been in the car with you. you will need someone to hold your iPod so you can drive. also, someone to say, "slow down, jeremy."
don't you think a good band name would be:
"the slow-down jeremy"?
doesn't that sound appealing? you will also need someone to craft you a tricorner hat for pirate sartorial purposes. there's really a lot to do.
For several years I used to spout a quote from Trout Fishing In America whenever the opportunity presented itself, sometimes with no relevance to anything. I'd forgotten about it. It went something like this: "I remember with particular amusement people fishing in the dawn with three-pointed hats." Apropos of nothing, for old times' sake, gratifying to none but me.
This is kind of yesterday's news, and I unfortunately didn't have time to check into it while it was still going on, but for what it's worth:

Couldn't that actually be kind of annoying? You're driving along and some asshole with an iPod full of Europe and Puddle of Mudd wipes out the local college station. The horror! Road rage has just come back into fashion, I think. I see death and destruction ahead, mark my words.
don't hate me for saying this, (*cower*)
but the future is now.
