The bridge and how I burned it

'Member how I commented here a while back about an ex-employer of mine whose name was a near-perfect amagram for 'O, he perfect liar'?

There was a thread on Slashdot about an employer who laid a guy off, then demanded that they fix some things up 5 months later.

There would be none of that for me - I turned in my resignation without notice one January day. I'd had enough, you see. I gave the owner my keys and phone and looseleaf binder (with its cryptic notes) and walked away, strangely relieved.

It would have been a better exit, but the owner's girlfriend - also a worker at the company - broke up with him the night before, which kind of distracted him and left me the main player in an anticlimactic drama.
