Next up on the W commutation list

This lady.

Let's see:

Prison sentence excessive? Well, without extensively researching, I point to her defense attorney's argument:

Defense attorney Jeff Kearney argued at length for leniency, pointing out that Mallard had no prior convictions, and saying that his client was placed in extraordinary circumstances.

"What she did is horrible, but I disagree with Ms. Jack, she is not a horrible person," Kearney said.

"Please don't destroy another life," Kearney added. "Please give her a chance to prove she can do something good."

Sound vaguely familiar? From the statement of the 'President':

My decision to commute his prison sentence leaves in place a harsh punishment for Mr. Libby. The reputation he gained through his years of public service and professional work in the legal community is forever damaged. His wife and young children have also suffered immensely. He will remain on probation. The significant fines imposed by the judge will remain in effect. The consequences of his felony conviction on his former life as a lawyer, public servant, and private citizen will be long-lasting.

And a simple conviction for this lady won't lead to long-lasting consequences, even without that onerous fifty-year sentence? Huh.

Oh, wait? What's that you say? The convict in question is a person of color? And in no position to offer further information that may harm me or others in my gang?

Hmmm. Um.

Never mind.
