So I was reading Haven's journal, and I discovered that there was a protest here in downtown Milwaukee yesterday. From her description, I thought it was maybe just some anarcho-kids, bored and with nuthin' to do... After all, it wasn't on the lefty NPR news this morning, was it?
Then a couple coworkers of mine told me that they had been there, too. And that it was crazed.
There's some coverage at IndyMedia, but not a word at my local 'newspaper'.
Huh.
Here's my letter to the editor:
Dear Editor:Think I'll get a reply? I'll let you know...
I'm writing to let you know that I'm extremely disappointed by the lack of Journal-Sentinel coverage on the Critical Mass protest Monday afternoon/evening in downtown Milwaukee.
Were in not for my coming across a mention of it on the World Wide Web, I wouldn't know that anything had occurred.
"But it's not news," you might protest.
Well, I reply, was the brouhaha surrounding the ill-fated rave party in Racine really news? Apparently, judging from your online archive - the story at http://www.jsonline.com/news/racine/nov02/93070.asp is just the first article I found and there are MANY others. ONE article, sadly, exceeds your coverage of yesterday's protest.
Were you truly ignorant of the events yesterday or did the paper decide that showing dissent of the nations policy during wartime was unpatriotic? In either case, there's certainly not much of a case made for the J-S as journalistic leaders.
