IMPACT Press December '02 - January '03: Column - Notes from the Cultural Wasteland

I'm worried because I live in a country run by an administration that doesn't seem to mind squelching thoughts, that gets "furious" when even another world leader questions the actions of the administration and casually (and even unofficially) draws a parallel between the presidents actions and those of Hitler or morons, and tells talk-show hosts they have to "watch what they say."

Back in the days when I was a youngster, me and three other malcontents put out an underground newspaper in our high school. There was a legal case surrounding it that ended up in Federal District Court (one step below the Supremes). I joked at the time that if I filed a Freedom Of Information Act request on myself that it would be thick with my teenaged complainin'.

Now I'm not so sure.
